Mrs. Thavamany Rathinasingham (Retired Teacher), formerly of Urumpirai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka was called to be with the Lord on 1 May 2021 in Perth, Western Australia.

Dearly beloved wife of late N.S. Rathinasingham (Retired Principal and Vice Principal of Jaffna Central College, Sri Lanka); loving mother of Lydia Shantha Mahendran (Epsom, UK), Jasmine Jeyantha Richards (Perth, Australia), Jeremy Thava Chelvam (Perth, Australia) and David Thavasuthan (Canberra, Australia); cherished mother-in-law of  late Daniel Mahendran, Michael Richards, Jayantha Chelvam and Carolyn Galloway; adored grandmother of  Joel, Noel, Naomi, Jason, Dinesh and  Nishan and doting great grandmother of Ethan, Ezra, Liam, Samuel, Dylan, Lewis, Joseph and Rowan.

Much loved sister of late Thavaratnam (Toronto), late Rajaratnam (Colombo), late Pavalamalar (Urumpirai), late Moorthy (Badulla);  adored sister-in-law of Meena (Toronto), late Rani (London), late Balasingham (Melbourne), late Raajam (Toronto) and late Malar (Pandatharippu), Ruby (Melbourne), late Blanchard (Torronto) and late Rasiah.

She was a much adored and well respected teacher at Urumpirai Hindu College for over 30 years, then migrating to Western Australia in 1986 where she enjoyed a retired life with family and friends.

Loving Mrs. Rathinasingham will be missed and fondly remembered by her relatives, friends and students across the globe. Greater than the sorrow of her loss is the joy that she spread during her life, as she loved and helped all. Her wisdom and love will continue to guide each one of us throughout our lives. Her integrity and hard work continue to inspire those who knew her.

To celebrate the life of Mrs. T. Rathinasingham, a Thanksgiving Service will be held on Saturday, 8 May 2021 at 10am at the East Chapel, Fremantle Cemetery, Carrington Street, Palmyra 6157

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, family is kindly requesting all the attendees to follow all the Government regulations and protocols that are currently in place.

Lilly Rasamalar Stephen (Nee Periathamby)

It is with great sorrow Final Voyage announces the passing away of Mrs. Lilly Rasamalar Stephen (Retired teacher, Chundikuli Girls’ College, Jaffna) on 16th November 2020 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Dearly beloved wife of late V.S. Stephen (Retired teacher, St.Johns College Jaffna), loving mother of Ranji Anketell, Jayanthay and Vasanthan, loving sister of late Nesamalar Ponnuthurai, late Selvamalar Dharmanandan, late Poopathy Chellathamby, late Ariamalar Paranirupasingam, Mahilmalar Sivagnanampillai, Ratnamalar Bhuvanaratnam and late Dr.Ariaraj (Kanthi), loving grand mother of Priscilla, Niran and Ruth, adorable great-grand mother of Aara, Prashi and Aadhavan. A private funeral was held due to the prevailing COVID crisis. “Safe in the arm of Jesus”

Mrs. LR Stephen was a teacher at Chundikuli Girls’ College for more than a quarter of a century. She is fondly remembered as “Mrs. Stephens” by her students. “A gentle teacher who has taken a hand of a student, opened her mind and touched her heart

May her soul rest in peace and the good Lord give guidance to her loved ones during the difficult time.

Beatrice Yogamalar Chellappah (Yogam): It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Beatrice Yogamalar Chellappah (Yogam), after a lengthy illness on 10th October, 2020 in Croydon, United Kingdom.

Beloved youngest daughter of late Mudaliyar Stephen Murugesu Chellappah & late Victoria Arulammah of Karaveddy East, Karaveddy, Sri Lanka, ever- loving sister and sister-in-law of late Winslow Vethanayagam & late Pushparani, late Geevamalar & late Murugesu Mathibalasingham, late Gnanamalar & late Jeyarajah Chelliah, late Samuel Arulnayagam & Kamala (UK), Pavalamalar & Maurice Nalliah(Canada), cherished Seeni-ammah of Sathiam, Vimi, Chandran, Ranjit, Shiranjani, Lalit, Nalini, late Ajit, Vijit, Sujit, Daljit, Premini and Nilanthi, affectionate Yogam mamie of Indran(JP), Chandrika, Vasanthika, Kamalendran and late Vijayendran, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, who was fondly called “Cheema” by her dear ones.

Yogam will be missed and fondly remembered by her sister, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren across the globe. Mrs Chandra Navaratnam was a teacher at St. Johns College, Jaffna for 20 years (1967 – 1987) and was the organist at St. John the Baptist Church for more than 30 years. She was also the pianist/organist for St Johns College and Chundikuli Girls College Carol Services and for the Annual Combined Carol Services of all the Northern Christian Schools in Jaffna. Later in her retirement, she was one of the organists of St.Michael & All Angels Church, Colpetty. Mrs. Navaratnam was also a Service Award Winner of the Institute of Western Music and Speech (IWMS ).

Mrs. Chandra Navaratnam’s service to the Chundikuli christian community is commendable. May her soul rest in peace.
