Mrs. Sathiajothi Selvakone (Sathiam)

Graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Paradeniya, Sri Lanka (Cohort of 1966) and Alumna of Kandy Girls’ High School and Chundikuli Girls’ College, passed away peacefully at her residence in Toronto, Canada on 3 January 2024.

Devoted wife of late Dr. Gnanapragasam Mariathas Selvakone (Consultant Psychiatrist – Sri Lanka, United Kingdom and Canada)

Loving daughter of Murugesu Mathibalasingham ( Assistant Commissioner of Co-operative Department, Sri Lanka) and Grace Jeevamalar Mathibalasingham (both deceased), and caring daughter-in-Law of Gabrielpillai and Mariapillai Gnanapragasam (both deceased),

Affectionate mother of Suhanya and Dr. Meera and caring mother-in-law of Dushyanth and Umesh, loving grandmother of Vikram, Mithran, Navin and Neha

Adored sister of Vimalajothi (Vimmi) and Dr. Mathi Chandrakumar (United Kingdom), sister-in-law of Leela Kanages Chandrakumar, late G.F. Selvarajah, Selvamalar Manokararaj, Dr. G.A.J Selvanathan, Selvarathy Alakakone and Nick Selva.

In lieu of flowers family humbly welcomes the donations to be made on Sathiajothi Sevakones’s name to Eekai Foundation (ஈகை) to support worthwhile humanitarian projects.

Dr. Sathiajothi Selvakone was honoured at the Canadian Parliament, House of Commons, Monday January 29, 2024. The honour was mentioned by the Honourable Majid Jowhari member for Richmond Hill ON. Beatrice Yogamalar Chellappah (Yogam): It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Beatrice Yogamalar Chellappah (Yogam), after a lengthy illness on 10th October, 2020 in Croydon, United Kingdom.

Beloved youngest daughter of late Mudaliyar Stephen Murugesu Chellappah & late Victoria Arulammah of Karaveddy East, Karaveddy, Sri Lanka, ever- loving sister and sister-in-law of late Winslow Vethanayagam & late Pushparani, late Geevamalar & late Murugesu Mathibalasingham, late Gnanamalar & late Jeyarajah Chelliah, late Samuel Arulnayagam & Kamala (UK), Pavalamalar & Maurice Nalliah(Canada), cherished Seeni-ammah of Sathiam, Vimi, Chandran, Ranjit, Shiranjani, Lalit, Nalini, late Ajit, Vijit, Sujit, Daljit, Premini and Nilanthi, affectionate Yogam mamie of Indran(JP), Chandrika, Vasanthika, Kamalendran and late Vijayendran, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, who was fondly called “Cheema” by her dear ones.

Yogam will be missed and fondly remembered by her sister, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren across the globe. Greater than the sorrow of her loss is the joy that she spread during her life, as she loved and helped all. Her wisdom and love will continue to guide each one of us throughout our lives. Her lifetime of dedication and self-sacrifice serve as a monument to the person she was. Her integrity and hard work continue to inspire those who knew her. Rest in Peace Cheema!
