  1. Dear Dharshi, Rukshan, Aunkshan, Ranjini and Kumari
Please accept our heartfelt condolences as you grieve on the loss of a dear husband, father and brother.
Beautiful memories of Prem when were in Chundikuli, pouring in as we heard the sad news fortnight ago.
I do vividly remember the pre-teen years when we attended the Sunday school somewhere in the belly of Kachcheri Nallur road. Since it was a very long walk from top of the KN road, “aunty Hannah” a Scandinavian Missionary gave us lifts in her car from the Kachcheri to the Sunday school. It was a pale blue, Scandinavian mini and I don’t know how we managed to pack 5 of us in that car! Prem and I being the oldest in our pack we were compelled to strike conversations with aunty during the 20 mins journey. I still chuckle the way we tried to converse with our limited English.
Then the fun days when cousins get -together and walk to the Nallur Kanthasamy Kovil festival. Sweet memories of roaming the outer streets of temple, eating kadalai, indulging on “Ice palam” and maximising the “araichalar” photo studio deals . (believe one may have that photo still). I also remember on how we loose our members of the group in the crowd and spending hours searching for them as you know we cannot return home without them. Walking back home around 10 pm was also fun braving the street dogs and you guessed it who was most afraid of the street dogs! These were some of the cherished memories of Prem.
My husband refers Prem as Christy and recollecting the fond memories when both of them worked together at Walker and Sons.
July 83 riots forced many of our relatives disperse around the globe. My husband I and were glad to catch up with Prem and Dharshi whenever we visited them in Jaffna.
Gone are the happy days we shared together,
But not the memories, they last forever.
When thoughts go back as often do,
We treasure the memories we have of you.
God saw the road was weary,
The hill too steep to climb’
You tried so hard, you did your best.
God closed your eyes and whispered “time to rest”
Our thoughts are with you and may the Almighty grant you peace in time. The pain might seems unbearable now, but in time, it is the memories that will win through and you will find happiness again.
    With love and prayers
